  • Camille Pissarro (1830-1903), La Place du Havre, Effet de Pluie, 1897
  • ALFRED SISLEY (1839-1899) Bords du Loing Oil on canvas 46.1 x 55.7 cm (181/8 x 217/8 inches) Signed and dated lower left, Sisley 90

Directed by David Stern and Lélia Pissarro, the great-granddaughter of Impressionist artist Camille Pissarro, this exhibition features an incredible collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artworks.

This significant anniversary is being celebrated at major institutions worldwide, including the Royal Academy of Arts in London, the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, and the National Gallery of Art in Washington. For Stern Pissarro, this exhibition also commemorates the gallery's 60th anniversary.

The first Impressionist exhibition in 1874 challenged traditional academic painting, organised by Pissarro, Monet, Degas, Renoir, and Sisley. Despite criticism, the term "Impressionist" was coined, marking the birth of modern art.

The exhibition will showcase works by these pioneering artists, featuring landscapes by Pissarro and Sisley, ballerinas by Degas, landscapes by Renoir, and port scenes by Boudin. Post-Impressionist works by Henri Martin, Gustave Loiseau, and others will also be on display, including pieces from private collections.
