Enjoy a rare opportunity to see the epic masterpiece 'Astronomer Copernicus' by Jan Matejko one of Poland's greatest and most loved paintings. The piece was created to mark 400th anniversary of the birth of the Polish mathematician and astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus. This will be the first-time the Jan Matejko; regarded as the national painter of Poland, has been exhibited by The National Gallery. The piece will be displayed alongside 'De revolutionibus orbium coelestium' by Copercius, the 1543 publication that marked a turning point in human understanding of our place in the universe.
