Join the National Portrait Gallery Youth Forum!

Youth Forum are a group of 14-21 year olds who collaborate with the Gallery and influence its activity, get inspired by the collection, and shape the offer of the Gallery for young people.

As the Gallery is currently closed for major redevelopment work, meetings are taking place virtually so anyone in the UK can take part.

How to join

If you’re interested in joining and

  • You’re aged 14-21.
  • You like art or history and want to meet like-minded people
  • You’re based anywhere in the UK.

Taster Evenings

Taster Evenings are taking place on 7 December 2021 and 25 January 2022 - join these virtual meetings to find out more about being a Youth Forum member!

  • On 7 December join us to find out more about the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2021 – meet an exhibiting artist and find out about their creative process and hear from the exhibition manager about how they put a world renowned display together. Icebreaker activities will also take place to help you to get to know other Forum members.
  • On 25 January join us on a virtual behind the scenes tour of the frame conservation studio and discover what digital projects the Gallery has been working on, using the latest technology to bring the Collection to life! Icebreaker activities will also take place to help you to get to know other Forum members.
