Friday night life drawing: bathers by the sea

Immerse yourself in the sun-drenched world of the French Riviera for an evening of life drawing inspired by modern art.

Taking inspiration from the Royal Academy’s Painting the French Riviera exhibition, this session explores how the body, beach and leisure became central subjects in modern art. Working with life models posed against selected scenes from Man Ray’s 1937 surrealist travel journal La Garoupe, you’ll explore how artists transformed the Riviera into a setting for performance, experimentation and creative expression.

Led by artist and educator Mark Cazalet, the session features a series of drawing exercises exploring movement, energy and presence.

All materials will be provided, making this an accessible and inspiring session for artists of all experience levels.
