The National Portrait Gallery

Having reopened following a stunning three-year makeover, the National Portrait Gallery is a treasure trove for art enthusiasts.

Don’t miss the Herbert Smith Freehills Portrait Award 2024—a showcase of contemporary portrait painting that has attracted talent from around the world for over 40 years.

While you’re there join contemporary artist Es Devlin CBE RDI for an engaging chat with writer and curator Ekow Eshun. They’ll discuss Devlin’s new choral installation, Congregation, created with the UK for UNHCR to honour those who have faced forced displacement. Ekow will also share insights from his new book, The Strangers: Five Extraordinary Black Men and the Worlds That Made Them. Stick around for a 30-minute book signing in the Gallery shop from 8 PM to 8:30 PM.
