Art After Dark: A free late-night culture programme
Coming this March we're launching Art After Dark, a seasonal art and culture programme in 2023 with world-class art institutions across London’s West End, including the National Gallery and Royal Academy of Arts.
Award-winning cultural initiative Art of London is set to launch Art After Dark, a free art and culture programme in 2023 with world-class art institutions across London’s West End, including the National Gallery and Royal Academy of Arts. Leading art galleries in the city will keep the doors open for culture seekers late into the night, in a series of landmark events taking place seasonally.
With the first installment on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th March 2023, Art After Dark will open up the West End’s art world to a new generation, including night owls wanting to discover the city’s art alongside the area’s top restaurants, bars or theatre shows.
The unmissable, seasonal arts programme will enable culture enthusiasts to ‘hop’ from gallery to gallery throughout the evening. Thursday will see independent and commercial galleries throwing their doors open late, while on Fridays iconic institutions, including the Royal Academy and National Gallery, will stay open after dark. Members of the public attending the seasonal events will experience pioneering exhibitions shaking up the art scene, with additional galleries including the 3812 Gallery, Stern Pissarro, and the National Portrait Gallery when it reopens next year, with more institutions to be announced in early 2023.
Art After Dark is the next initiative to form part of Art of London’s other phenomenal art attractions and programmes, delivered by Heart of London Business Alliance and supported by Mayfair Art Weekend and Westminster City Council, that have taken place in the past two years, including the Augmented Gallery; the Piccadilly Art Takeover and Trail; the Take A Moment 2022 photography exhibition; and, most recently, the Brighter Future public art commission. Culture seekers can also discover a raft of spectacular arts destinations to visit using Art of London’s handy online guides, filled with world-class art galleries, theatres, museums, institutions and pop-ups to explore in the West End.
The unmissable, seasonal arts programme will enable culture enthusiasts to ‘hop’ from gallery to gallery throughout the evenings. Thursday will see independent and commercial galleries keeping their doors open late to welcome in visitors, while on Fridays iconic institutions, including the Royal Academy and National Gallery, will stay open after dark.
