BAFTAs 2024: Oppenheimer Wins Seven Awards at the Illustrious Film Ceremony

The 77th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs), took place on Sunday 18th February 2024 celebrating outstanding contributions to film throughout 2023 and saw seven award wins from Oppenheimer.

Hosted by David Tennant and featuring performances by Nick Mohammed and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, the highly anticipated event celebrated outstanding National and International films from the past year in the heart of the capital.

Highlights included seven wins for Oppenheimer including victories for Best Cinematography and Best Editing. Plus a win for Best Leading Actress for Emma Stone for her performance as Bella Baxter in Poor Things.

Oppenheimer Wins Seven Awards

At the annual celebration of film, Oppenheimer, starring Cillian Murphy as Robert J. Oppenheimer, swept the board with seven awards.

Making history Murphy became the first Irish-born actor to win Best Actor in a Leading Role. Robert Downey Jr. won Best Supporting Actor, and Christopher Nolan, the director of Oppenheimer, won the Best Director award.

With further Oppenheimer wins for Best Film, Best Editing, Best Original Score and Best Cinematography.

Poor Things Win Big

In the Best Actress category, Emma Stone won for her portrayal of Bella Baxter in the off-beat comedy Poor Things, about a woman brought back to life by an unorthodox scientist.

Poor Things won five categories in total, including Best Costume, Best Hair & Make-up, Best Product Design and Special Visual Effects.

Other Wins

The Zone of Interest won in three categories including Best British Film and The Holdovers won a further two categories including Best Supporting Actress for Da’vine Joy Randolph.
