His striking self-portraits and commissioned works helped redefine the portrait genre, leaving a lasting impact on modern art.

Now, the National Portrait Gallery presents Edvard Munch Portraits, the first UK exhibition dedicated to this often-overlooked aspect of his work. Bringing together a remarkable selection of paintings, the exhibition explores how Munch’s portraits went beyond mere likeness to reveal deeper themes of identity, emotion, and the human condition.

A rare opportunity to experience these extraordinary works up close, this landmark exhibition offers fresh insight into one of the most influential artists of the 19th and 20th centuries.
