In Plain Sight

Art of London and MT Art Agency bring the installation, In Plain Sight from artist BCW to Piccadilly Circus this weekend as part of Inside Out festival.

In Plain Sight sees three lit frames placed in the centre of Piccadilly Circus, however, where the screen should appear - there is a void. The lights will shift between red, green, and blue, mixing colours in plain sight rather than hidden behind the facade of a screen. The rectangular space in the frame draws parallels to the rectangular screens of the phones, laptops, tablets in our day to day life. The familiarity of the historical setting of Piccadilly Circus is contrasted with the sculpture which highlights technology’s power to create alienation and social estrangement from the familiar.

CLASS OF 2021 pt2

Dazed x CIRCA: Class of 2021

In September, 30 emerging artist were given the opportunity to exhibit some of their work on Europe's largest screen, Piccadilly Circus. Set in a post-pandemic world 'Communion' was the theme set by interdisciplinary artist Angel Rose, for the artists to respond to.

One of the lucky 30 artists exhibited on the screens last month has been picked as a finalist to gain access to Dazed Space, a new multimedia studio complex in London as well as receive a #CIRCAECONOMY prize of £30,000 to help kick start their career. Judged by exceptional talents including Simone Rocha, Dexter Navy, Hans Ulrich Obrist and Marina Abramovic. The lucky finalist will once again have their art displayed on the Piccadilly Lights at 20:21 on Thursday 14 October.
