Marvel at Public Art by Chila Kumari Singh Burman
Chila Kumari Singh Burman MBE unveiled 14 glowing artworks, including eight new commissions nearly ten feet high, displayed throughout Leicester Square Gardens and nearby landmarks.
Titled There Is No Darkness in the Garden of Light, the installation celebrated Burman’s Indian heritage and London’s diverse communities, featuring radiant depictions of Indian deities like Laxmi and Ganesh, whimsical underwater scenes and magical, Barbie-inspired figures.
Burman’s vibrant fluorescent artworks also illuminated iconic locations including the London Trocadero, Hippodrome Casino, Westminster Reference Library and The Londoner hotel. Pieces like Dragon, Phoenix, Flamingos and Mermaid pay homage to local landmarks.
Reimagining the West End as an open-air gallery without walls, Art of London is curated and delivered in partnership with the public art and placemaking agency New Public.
